If you’re hungry for traditional Sumbanese culture, head west into the rice fields that crawl up blue mountains, carved by rivers and sprouting with bamboo and coconut palms. Kampung of high-roofed houses are still clustered on their hilltops, surrounding the imposing stone tombs of their ancestors. This package includes all famous attractions in West Sumba, you can discover the gem of this area.

Trip Itineraries:

Day 1

Day 1: Tambolaka Airport – Praijing Village – Lapopu Waterfall

  • Pick up at Sumba Tambolaka Airport on you arrival time.
  • Head to Praijing village. The entrance of Praijing is on top of a hill and if you want to walk through the entire village, you actually have to walk down the hill. You will have an overview of the entire village at the entrance. The inhabitants of the village built a spot where you can have an amazing panoramic view of the village and beyond. Praijing is surrounded by the beautiful endless nature of Sumba.
  • Proceed to Lapopu Waterfall. After a drive through the endless hilly and green landscape of Sumba, you will arrive close to the waterfall. To visit the waterfall, we will need to do a small hike of approximately 15 minutes and cross a bamboo bridge to get there. There is a nice spot to sit down where you can watch the water that is finding its way down the hill. Don’t forget to bring your swimming clothes so you can take a dive in the water just in front of the big waterfall and cool down after a long day of adventure.
  • Enjoy dinner at local restaurant.
  • Check in to Mario Hotel & Cafe, you will stay here for 2 nights.

Day 2

Day 2: Waigali Village – Marosi Beach – Watubela Beach

  • Enjoy breakfast at hotel.
  • Visit one of the many nice villages in the Lamboya & Wanokaka district, called Waigali. Waigali is a village located on top of a hill where we will have a spectacular view. With one of the oldest villages that is still very much alive in Sumba, we will get to know the island better and better.
  • After the visit to Waigali, we will make our way to Marosi beach. This long, white sand beach is the perfect place to have a relaxing and quiet walk on the beach. Like many beaches in Sumba, it is very likely that you will have this beach for yourself. 
  • Nearby Marosi Beach, there is Kerewee beach. Kerewee is an amazing place to drink and eat a fresh coconut which you can buy from the locals. The magical big rocks in the water are making this beach truly unique. Believe it or not but there is another beautiful beach nearby which is a must-see if you are nearby. 
  • The beach of Watubela is just 15 minutes of walking from Kerewee beach. During the small hike we will be surrounded by coconut trees. When we arrive, you will immediately have a fantastic panoramic view. When you get on the beach, you can enjoy this beautiful place with blue water and a big wall of yellow rocks. In the middle you will see some big flat grey rocks where from we can have a view from above. This beach also has a secret cave. Try to find it when you are there and be amazed about how big the cave is. 
  • Back to hotel and rest.

Day 3

Day 3: Waitabar/Tarung – Tambolaka Airport

  • Enjoy breakfast at hotel.
  • You can make a short visit to the village of Tarung – Waitabar. Both of the villages are located next to each other and are still very much alive. They are located inside the capital of Waikabubak and the villagers are still practicing what they practice since the old times. 
  • You can also have some free and easy time or buy some souvenirs before heading to the airport.
  • Drop offat Tambolaka Airport to catch your flight.
  • Our tour ends here.

This is the most popular itinerary among the customers. However, if you want to add, change or skip some attractions, we can customise itinerary for you. All the attractions and activities are optional, you can always skip if you don’t want to go. You can leave a note when you check out or tell our guide in the tour.

The entrance fees have various pricing i.e. foreigner, local rate, peak prices etc. It would be better that the customer pay on the spot depending on his/her nationality. Also, it will solve the refund issue if you choose not to go to the attraction when you are on the tour. 

We have included all that is needed except for :

  1. Entrance fees
  2. Lunch and dinner: 50,000 rupiah per meal per person but depends on what you order and where you dine. 
  3. Tips: Optional but recommend in Indonesia
  4. Hotel: You can book on your own or add on when you check out

The rest that is not covered will be your personal travel insurance, personal expenses like souvenirs etc

In general, the period between March till November are the best months to visit Indonesia. This is the period of the dry season. 

With that being said, we recommend customers not to be too bothered by it because you are only here for a few days , it is no guarantee that even if you come in the dry season, it won’t rain or it will always be rainy during the monsoon season. We believe alot is down to luck. December/August are still the peak period of tourist in Indonesia.

Return airport transfer service is included. We would pick you up on your arrival time on day 1. If you are already in Sumba, we would pick you up at your hotel at around 9am instead. 

No, our tours are all private tours. You won’t share with other groups or travellers. In this way, you can take your time, no need to wait for other people and can always follow your own path.

The air tickets are excluded in this package. If you have not bought the international air tickets, drop us a note and we are able to quote you for a package that is bundled together with the air tickets. We are usually cheaper than the price online.
