Trip Itineraries:

Day 1

Day 1: Waitabula – Watu Maladong – Bwanna Beach – Sunset Pero

  • Pick up at your hotel in Waitabula (South West Sumba) at 8am.
  • Start with a visit to the village of Ratengaro where you can meet the locals, experience their culture and see the traditional Sumbanese houses. village is built near a beach which you can visit once you are there. You will have a nice view of the village while standing on the beach. You can see the typical peaks of the houses on the higher ground.
  • After this lets have a look at Watu Maladong. From Watu Maladong you can have a look at the enormous big rocks in the middle of the sea. It slightly gives you the feeling that you are in Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, because of the big rocks that magically rise from the water.
  • After this, we will continue to explore Bwanna beach. The drive to the beach is on a sandy road which guides you through a massive field of high grass, which gives a very adventurous feeling. First we will stop at the viewing point where you can see Watu Maladong and Bwanna Beach. The beach of Bwanna is a long, clear and colorful sand beach under a majestic cliff.
  • The Bwanna beach cliff is heading to the Indian Ocean which makes this place extraordinary. Whilst the beauty is unquestionable, the beach is still unknown by most tourists, which make it almost private and vew clean. Later on, we climb down to the beach where a big arc is located. The climb is very steep, so you have to be careful! But when you are down, it is all worth it and you will be standing on one of the most beautiful beaches in Indonesia.
  • After Bwanna beach, we will be going to Pero beach to end our Sumba tour with a well-deserved sunset if time allows us.
  • Drop off at your hotel in Waitabula (South West Sumba).

In general, the period between March till November are the best months to visit Indonesia. This is the period of the dry season.

With that being said, we recommend customers not to be too bothered by it because you are only here for a few days , it is no guarantee that even if you come in the dry season, it won’t rain or it will always be rainy during the monsoon season. We believe alot is down to luck. December/August are still the peak period of tourist in Indonesia.
