FAQs about Mount Rinjani

Mount Rinjani, also known as Gunung Rinjani, is a large volcano that stands over the island of Lombok.

It is the second-highest peak in Indonesia, standing at 3,726 metres. One of the most thrilling experiences you may have in Indonesia is a trip to the peak. Although the journey to the top is not easy, it is worthwhile because the view from the top is regarded as one of the best in the country!

The Rinjani trekking season begins on 1st April and ends on 31st December.

Rinjani national park is closed from January 1st to 31st March, Due to heavy rains and extreme weather conditions.

During the day, the temperature at and below the crater rim is normally between 15 and 25 degrees. At night, it’s usually below 10 degrees at the Rim,  and it can get very cold at times, especially at the summit.

We offer private packages, the more people you have, the lower the price per person!

There are no established toilets on the trail. If you need to use the bathroom along the way, don’t hesitate to ask our guides for assistance.

However, you will have a private toilet tent set up at each camping site for your hiking group to use in the morning before trekking and in the evening once you are at camp.

Mobile signals are generally strong on the mountain and even at the rim. However, signals will get weaker as you make your way up to the summit and when you trek down towards the lake (since the lake is inside a crater) and there is no signal at all at the lake.

You can leave your extra luggages that is not necessary for the trek with us at our office and collect it when you are down the mountain.

It is not necessary for individuals to bring their own water on the trek.

We will provide 1.5 litres of water per person per day, which will be distributed by your guide at the beginning of the hike. Each individual will be responsible for carrying one bottle of their own water, ensuring that they have a sufficient supply on hand for the duration of the hike.

Lombok is pleasant and sunny most of the year, but rain, wind, and temperature changes are possible at different areas and altitudes.

We will provide you with a detailed packing list after you book our service.

We are able to accommodate certain dietary restrictions and allergies, such as  Vegetarians.

Please do not hesitate to contact us before your trek to inform us of any allergies you may have, and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Our guides are equipped with a basic first aid kit, with basic first aid training and will evaluate the injury and provide emergency medical care to the injured person.

However, in order to ensure your own safety, it is recommended that you bring a personal first aid kit containing any necessary medications, bandages, blisters, first aid creams, sunscreens, and any additional snacks for the hike you might need.

Tipping is common and expected in Indonesia. You can show your appreciation by tipping them at the end of your trek. The recommended rate is Rp50,000/porter/day (~SGD4.50) and Rp100,000/guide/day (~SGD9) for the whole group.
