This 4D3N Surabaya Tour is suitable for travellers who want to see the beautiful volcanoes of East Java and is suitable for people who want to go for a hike.
The itinerary includes the must-visit Mount Bromo crater, Madakaripura waterfall and the Blue Flames at Mount Ijen. We will also have one rest day in Banyuwangyi town for you to explore the city and visit sites such as Baluran Nasional Park and Pantai Boom. Trip Itineraries:
Day 1
Day 1: Surabaya – Mt Bromo Area
- Pick-up from Juana International Airport/ hotel in Surabaya at 10am. We will pick up customers in the city at 9am and then go to the airport at 10am for airport arrival customers.
- Travel to Mount Bromo area.
- Proceed to Madakaripura Waterfall.
- Check into Bromo Park Hotel. (If Bromo Park Hotel is not available, we will use Bromo Terrace Hotel)
Day 2
Day 2: Bromo Area – Banyuwangyi Area
- See the spectacular sunrise from vantage point, Penanjakan by 4WD jeep at 2:30am
- Continue to Hill of Love for a photo stop. Drive through the Sea of Sand and head towards Bromo Crater. Jeep is a public jeep and includes local Bromo tour guide fee.
- At the crater, you can go on foot or ride (rent) a horse/pony. The trip is around 20 minutes. Climb a flight of stairs for 10-15 mins to reach the rim of Bromo Crater.
- Transfer to jeep and return to Bromo hotel. Enjoy breakfast at 10:30 am and checkout by 11 am.
- Travel to Ijen area. Arrive aroud 6-7pm.
- Check in to Ketapang Indah Hotel (or equivalent class hotel) and you will stay here for 2 nights.
Day 3
Day 3: Banyuwangyi
- Rise and shine.
- Have a nice breakfast
- This day is kept free and easy for you to recharge before climbing Ijen in the night.
- Some of the activities would be Snorkelling, diving, going to Baluran National Park, Mountain Biking in the mountains of Ijen etc. You can also just chill by the hotel pool. (The activities are located about 2 hours car ride away from the hotel and price is excluded from this package). This add on includes the driver and the car which you can use for this day.
- Have dinner and rest for the night. Prepare to leave at midnight.
Day 4
Day 4: Kawah Ijen (Blue Flames Encounter) – Surabaya
- Checkout around 12:00 am and travel to Paltuding area with breakfast on-the-go. Local Ijen tour guide is included in this package.
- Reach Paltuding permit post at approximately 2 am, before hiking to Ijen peak.
- At the peak, we will be able to see the famous Blue Flame Sulphur of Ijen. As the Blue Flames are dependent on the moon light and rain, sightings are dependent on suitable weather. As with other natural phenomena, sightings cannot be guaranteed but we will bring you to the choice view point.
- At the break of dawn, if weather permits and it is deemed safe to do so by the authorities, you can walk down to the rim of the Ijen Lake. You can enjoy the morning lake view of Ijen and walk back to the Ijen peak before returning to Paltuding.
- Road trip 6-7 hours back to Surabaya city.
- Drop off at Surabaya Juanda Airport or hotels in Surabaya for onward journey.
- (If you are flying to another destination, pls book flight departing after 6pm. Option to drop off at Banyuwangyi port available on day 4 and is free of charge)

FAQs
The general answer is no as this is an Open Trip and we will follow according to the itenrary. However, if the group can agree and decide, then we are ok to be flexible.
The entrance fees have various pricing i.e. foreigner, local rate, peak prices etc. It would be better that the customer pay on the spot depending on his/her nationality. Also, it will solve the refund issue if you choose not to go to the attraction when you are on the tour.
It depends on your nationality but the estimated foreign rate for this tour are as follows:
- Mount Bromo – IDR 350,000
- Mount Ijen – IDR 250,000
- Madakaripura waterfall – IDR 200,000
The entrance fees are to be paid in cash. Please prepare the entrance fees
We have included all that is needed except for :
- Entrance fees
- Lunch and dinner: 50,000 rupiah per meal per person but depends on what you order and where you dine.
- Tips: Optional but recommend in Indonesia
The rest that is not covered will be your personal travel insurance (Highly recommended), personal expenses like souvenirs etc
In general, the period between March till December are the best months to visit Indonesia. This is the period of the dry season.
With that being said, we recommend customers not to be too bothered by it because you are only here for a few days , it is no guarantee that even if you come in the dry season, it won’t rain or it will always be rainy during the monsoon season. We believe alot is down to luck. December/August are still the peak period of tourist in Indonesia.
We usually try to keep each group to a maximum of 8 people. We believe in the benefits of small group trekking. However, we may have multiple groups of up to 8 during the tour dates.
The accommodation are listed in the itinerary. The accommodation are about 3-4 star hotels which are clean and nice.
For this tour, it is preferred that you arrive before 10am on the first day and you depart surabaya after 6pm on the 4th day.
As customers fly in from various places, we would recommend to try to stick to that schedule.
