Trip Highlights:

Mount Raung Trekking. Raung mountain is located 3,332 meters above sea level, in the east of Java. It has a 2 kilometer wide and 500 meter deep crater surrounded by a rim. The flanks of this mountain is full with vegetation, but the rim is totally empty and exist only of stones. As east java has many vulcano’s, Raung is the highest of them all. Raung is surrounded by smaller mountains such as Suketand Gadung at the northeast and west side. Even from Lovina beach in the North of Bali, Raung mountain can be seen.

Trip Itineraries:

Day 1 

Kalibaru – Basecamp

  • 07:00 – 07:45: Pick up at your accommodation in Kalibaru, transfer to basecamp at Raung Expedition Kalibaru. Short morning briefing to make sure everything are ready.
  • 07:45-08:00: Take some pictures before departing to Post 1. The OJEK motor service are ready for leading us to Post 1.
  • 08:15 – 08:15: Have some rest in Post 1 and proceed to CAMP 2 (distance 4.62 km, around 30-40 mins)
  • 10:30-12:00: CAMP 2 – CAMP 3 (distance 1.2 km)
  • 12:00-13:30: CAMP 3 – CAMP 4 (distance 1.5 km)
  • 14:00-15:30: CAMP 4 – CAMP 5 (distance 0.75 km, around 30-60 mins)
  • 15:30-16:30: CAMP 5 – CAMP 6 (distance 1.4 km, around 50-60 mins)
  • 16:30-17:30: CAMP 6 – CAMP 7 (distance 1 km, around 50-70 mins)
  • 17:30: Arrive: Arrive at CAMP 7. Build the tents and prepare for dinner.
  • 19:00-02:00: Have some rest, prepare for the trekking on Day 2. 

Day 2

Mount Raung Summit – Campbase

  • 02:00-03:00: Wake up and prepare everything for trekking to summit.
  • 03:00-04:00: CAMP 7 – CAMP 8 (distance 1 km, around 50-80 mins)
  • 04:00-05:00: CAMP 8  – CAMP 9 (distance 1 km, around 50-80 mins)
  • 05:00-05:10: CAMP 9 – Arrive at the peak. You must wear body rope, carabineer, webbing and glove for safety. No noisy voices are allowed during this route.
  • 05:10-05:30: Enjoy sunrise view and take some photos.
  • 05:30-06:00: Ready to start the most extreme tracks.
  • 06:00-10:00: Arrive flag peak though the Sirothol Path. 
  • 10:00-11:30: Reach the Sejati Peak (3344 MASL). 
  • Capture your best moment and enjoy your lunch at the TOP of the Mountain
  • 11:30-17:00: The SEJATI PEAK – CAMP 7 (the last camp)
  • 17:00-22:00: Prepare for dinner. It could take you more than 5 hours to make your own dinner.
  • 22:00-05:00: Have some rest, prepare for the trekking on Day 3.

Day 3

Wonorejo – Kaliburu

  • 05:00-06:00: Wake up
  • 06:00-08:00: Make the breakfast. Repack and please bring all your wastes / trashes back down. 
  • 08:00-15:00: Back down from CAMP 7 to Post 1. Transfer to OJEK motor.
  • 15:00-16:00: Arrive at POST 1 – Wonorejo village. You can make stop at Tirto Kamanten Waterfall on the way back to basecamp. 
  • 16:00-17:00: Wonorejo village – Base camp. Transfer to OJEK motor service.
  • 17:00-19:00: Reach base camp. Make your body clean and have some rest.
  • 19:00-20:00: Have some dinner at Kampoeng.
  • 20:00-00:00: Transfer back to Kaliburu. Drop off at your accommodation.

In general, the period between March till November are the best months to visit Indonesia. This is the period of the dry season. 

With that being said, we recommend customers not to be too bothered by it because you are only here for a few days , it is no guarantee that even if you come in the dry season, it won’t rain or it will always be rainy during the monsoon season. We believe alot is down to luck. December/August are still the peak period of tourist in Indonesia.
