If you want to visit Kuta, I’d recommend a day trip over staying in the area unless you’re looking for budget style accommodation or you’re looking for nice accommodation that still provides value for money. If you stay in Kuta, I think it would really add to your Bali experience to combine it with a stay in another area, like Ubud or Uluwatu. The area is full of markets and everyone you walk past tries to sell you something whether you look interested or not. So be prepared! It can get full on, but its something I personally needed to experience as we wanted to see all of Bali. There are a lot of things to do in Kuta, but they may not necessarily be the things you want to do in Bali. It really depends on what you want out of your trip to Bali.
Here is the guide for you to have an idea what you can do in Kuta.
Kuta is about 15 mins from Ngurah Rai International Airport, on Bali’s west coast. Just South of Legian. Kuta is about 15 minutes from the airport, depending on traffic. You can get a taxi from the airport stand when you arrive, or arrange a transfer with your hotel. If you’re coming from another area in Bali, you can take a taxi or a private driver. So it would be easier if you want to stop off along the way.
A magnet for surfers and backpackers for decades, Kuta’s beach is now lined with luxury hotels, and it’s still a blissful place to be.
Kuta Beach is one of the best places to enjoy Bali’s famous sunsets. Located on the island’s southwestern coast, you can enjoy sunbathing, surfing, swimming, and beach soccer.
Kuta’s main beach roads, Jalan Kartika Plaza and Jalan Pantai Kuta, are dotted with hotels, entertainment spots, shops, and a mix of restaurants and bars. Shopping options include Discovery Shopping Mall and the colourful Kuta Art Market. If you’re planning to surf in Bali, the waves at Kuta Beach suit beginner to advanced surfers.
Kuta Theater hosts nightly stage performances, with most of its cast in dazzling Balinese dance costumes. Known as Lights of Faith, the show is about a traditional friendship faced with the challenges of modernism. There are fun and hilarious moments mixed in between tense and thrilling illusion scenes. The show also includes magic tricks, ranging from the classic sawing a lady in half, a good deal of diversion and vanishing tricks, levitations, and displacements.

5GX Bali Reverse Bungy is a slingshot ride offering an adrenaline-inducing experience in Bali. Each ride can accommodate 3 people at a time, with each being strapped into the capsule while on the ground. At the press of a button, the capsule is catapulted 50 metres into the air at a speed around 200 km/h.
There’s a camera directly in front of the seats that takes photo during the ride – you can purchase as a memento of your experience. The price of a ride at 5GX Bali Reverse Bungy depends on how many people are joining in on the fun, so rates are cheaper if you’re in a group of 3.
5GX Bali Reverse Bungy is one of the few rides in Bali that opens until 3am. Hitching a 5G ride at dusk makes for a thrilling sunset experience as you can see all the way to the ocean. Note that the ride isn’t suitable for pregnant women and people with a history of heart disease and high blood pressure.
